c. 19th century Japanese hanji-mono wood block print puzzle. These were made as word puzzles which are similar to rebus puzzles. They were made during the Edo period which spanned from 1603 - 1868 and likely beyond and I’m not certain when these were printed. The 19th century is my best guess. The range of imagery is fantastic and reminds me of tattoo flash art. They are printed on rice paper but have been expertly mounted to a heavier weight paper. Measures 14 1/8” x 10”. Loss to bottom left edge.
