A piece made by May Wilson in collaboration with Ray Johnson in 1959. Titled “Ray Johnson gave me the bird”, I would assume that Ray gave May the dead bird that’s imbedded in the piece. They were friends and collaborators for many years. The materials look to be a box, steel wool, a dead bird and some kind of paint or resin that covers and saturates it all. Some areas with loss. About 5 1/8” x 3.75”.
